Current Skincare Favourites of a 35-year-old Tired Mum

Sooo… my skin has taken a bit of a hit since I turned 30 (and that was 5 years ago now 😅). Between pregnancy, breastfeeding and the general lack of sleep that comes with motherhood, I’ve been doing what I can to keep the glow alive.

These are the products I keep reaching for right now. None of this is sponsored by the way... just what’s working for me in this season of life.

1. Skin Gym Ice Roller

My go-to for mornings after 5 hours (or less) of sleep.

  • Instantly de-puffs and makes you feel refreshed (almost like coffee for your skin).
  • Cooling effect helps pores look smaller.
  • Especially amazing during pregnancy when puffiness can be next-level.

2. Bio-Dance Bio Collagen Real Deep Beauty Mask

This one is my FAV right now... even though mitch thinks I look like a weirdo wearing it to bed.

  • You do your skincare routine, pop it on before bed, and overnight it turns clear.
  • By morning, you just peel it off (so satisfying)
  • Leaves my skin looking like I’ve had 8+ hours sleep (even if I haven’t).

3. Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence

This was actually a Mitch find! (For those who don’t know, my partner is a cosmetic doctor with a skincare cupboard that’s bigger than mine... Usually you'd think a girl would jump at this but I have break-out prone skin so i'm less likely to try new products all the time, even if they're accessible. Anyway, in pregnancy my skin has been less irritated so I decided to visit said cupboard and I was pleasantly surprised with this find).

  • I discovered it when I ran out of my usual serum, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
  • Made from snail mucin (yes, actual snail slime 🐌). Texture isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth it.
  • Hydrates, soothes acne, reduces the look of fine lines, and helps skin repair.
  • I love using it after icing my face, skin feels super plump and hydrated.

4. BareMinerals Original Loose Foundation

Honestly, the most glow I’ve ever gotten from a mineral powder. I've been using this for 6+ years.

  • Everyday coverage that’s light but even.
  • I always use a hydrating serum or oil underneath.
  • My shades: Fairly Light (winter) and Medium Beige (summer).

5. Kosas Revealer Concealer

Game-changer for tired mum eyes.

  • Brightens dark circles and gives a little “lifted” look.
  • Creamy, not cakey.
  • Covers hormonal breakouts without dodgy ingredients.

6. Westman Atelier Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter

Just wow.

  • The best tinted highlighter I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot).
  • I use it on my cheeks, cupid’s bow, and eyelids for the perfect bronzed glow.
  • Favourite shade: Peau de Peche.

7. Pure Collagen Peptides

Obviously I had to include this one in here! I take collagen daily (whether it's in my hot chocolate at night, in my smoothie, in my coffee or in my porridge/breakfast). We all know we lose it as we age and I notice a significant difference when I don't take it (to my hair, skin AND nails). I prefer unflavoured which is why I released my own over at Unrefined Nutrients. It is grass-fed and finished and we test it for heavy metals, pesticides, BOVAIR and glyphosate. Use "Unrefined15" for 15% off at checkout (you're welcome!).

Other products I love and use currently (not affiliated or sponsored... some of them are pricey but honestly a little goes a LONG way and I have been using them for 4+ years).

Rationale - the night creme
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Cleansing Wipes (I cut these in half to save money and use them 1-2 times per week or every fortnight)
Sunday Riley CEO Cream (dewy central, love this day cream, i've just run out!)

Note - I don't do this every day (although i do try!). It's my favourite type of self-care so I try to set the kids up with toys outside the bathroom while I follow this ritual.

If you’ve tried any of these, I’d love to know your thoughts!
