VALENTINE’S STYLE EDIT WITH MYER CENTRE
What to wear for Valentine’s Day? When I was single, V day was one of those days I would either love or hate. Would I have a special date or a boyfriend? Would I be glancing at my phone every few seconds for confirmation that my crush was thinking of me? Would I be nursing a heartbreak and impatiently waiting to finish work so I could cuddle up with my dog and watch, ‘How to lose a guy in 10 days’; or would I be rocking up to my favourite restaurant with my single Galentine gang in toe (sporting a flowy dress so I could comfortably eat as much as my heart desired – while we smirked at surrounding loved up couples).
Regardless of the circumstances, I think Valentine’s Day can be celebrated by everyone, relationship or no relationship. While some may stick their nose up and say it’s “too commercial”, I respectfully disagree – I will say yes to any chance to socialise or celebrate a relationship.
Eight years of dating has allowed me to experience every type of G/Valentine’s Date, so when The Myer Centre approached me to choose my top fashion picks for the occasion, I was delighted.
Below are my favourite high end and affordable looks for a romantic dinner date, casual night out and of course, a Galentine date with the girls.
Formal Dinner Date
Look 1: Asilio – Pink/white stripe dress $269.95 (Available at Myer Brisbane CBD), Photography: @taylameyerss
At the moment I am obsessed with blush pink and I think this look offers the perfect style combination of flirty, conservative and pretty. I feel this is the type of look you could pull off at work, then head straight to your date. It’s also super comfortable which is a MUST in my books. Pair with nude/blush heels and a clutch.
Look 2: Misha Collection Mallory Dress (Ivory) $220 (Available at Myer Brisbane CBD); Photography: @Taylameyerrs
If you’re wanting to make a lasting impression, you can’t go past this outfit. Black and white is my absolute go-to – pair with a faux tan and your favourite black bag and you’re guaranteed to turn heads.
Galentine Date with the girls & Casual Dinner Date
Look 1: Acler Harrow Dress champagne – $350 (Available at Myer)
This dress is stunning and the perfect addition to a Galentine’s Date or casual night out with your man (if you’re going for the casual look add some flats!). Extremely easy to wear, very comfortable and flattering on just about any body type. There is also plenty of room for seconds and dessert.
Look 2: Bardot Sonia Bodysuit (Crimson), Bardot Corset Denim Skirt (orchid), General Pants Amore Scarf (Subtitled)
I had to include a red piece in this blog post because science does suggest men are attracted to women in red. Scientifically speaking, this outfit is sure to blow his socks off.
Look 3: General Pants Eva Explore Denim Skirt (Subtitled), Bardot Britney Bodysuit (dark nude)
I am obsessed with this outfit. Casual with a sexy edge! I love the feminine tones and would also wear this to a night out with the girls.
